About the Instructor Certificate

The Gongkwon Yusul Instructor Certificate is an official recognition awarded to those who have demonstrated the ability to teach the system and are authorized to guide students.

There are two pathways to obtain the Gongkwon Yusul Instructor Certificate:

• Pathway 1 (ICP): Successfully complete and pass the official Instructor Certification Program (ICP).

• Pathway 2 (Black Belt Entry): Hold a minimum of a 1st Dan (Black Belt) and submit the required instructor certification documents for official review and approval.

This certificate represents more than technical skill. It symbolizes a deep understanding of Gongkwon Yusul’s principles, philosophy, and teaching methodology. Instructors are expected to guide students with responsibility, clarity, and respect.

The Gongkwon Yusul instructor certificate features Hunminjeongeum, which is the original form of what we now call Hangeul, the Korean alphabet. Today, Korean people use Hangeul in everyday life, and its origin comes directly from Hunminjeongeum.

By including Hunminjeongeum in the certificate design, it symbolizes not only the Korean language, but also innovation, education, and the powerful idea that knowledge should be accessible to everyone—values that reflect the role of an instructor.

What is Hunminjeongeum?

Hangeul was created by King Sejong the Great in the 15th century, and it is recognized as one of the world’s first deliberately designed writing systems.

Unlike many writing systems that developed gradually over time, Hangeul was invented with a clear purpose—to create a simple, logical, and accessible script that anyone could learn.

Because of this, Hangeul is often considered one of the most scientific writing systems in the world.

The shapes of the letters are based on how sounds are physically produced by the mouth, making it both intuitive and efficient.
