The Gongkwon Yusul rank certificates and instructor certificates are made from Hanji, a traditional Korean paper. Hanji is made from the bark of the mulberry tree and has been used in Korea for centuries. It is known for its exceptional durability—historically, it can last for hundreds to over a thousand years without easily decaying.
In addition to its strength, Hanji is also admired for its natural texture and warm, elegant color. By using Hanji, these certificates are not just documents, but lasting works of tradition and craftsmanship.

Each certificate features one of the Four Sacred Creatures from East Asian mythology.
These are legendary guardian beings that protect the four directions of the world. The design is unique, artistic, and highly collectible, making these certificates truly special.
Each certificate also includes a traditional ink painting at the bottom.
These paintings are not separate images. When you place all four certificates side by side on a wall, they connect to form one continuous artwork, like a single long scroll painting.
Four Guardian Creatures

The Four Symbols are four mythical guardian creatures from East Asian culture. They represent the four directions of the world, and each one is connected to a season, a color, and a type of energy.
The Cheong-ryong (Azure Dragon) guards the East and represents spring, growth, and new beginnings.
The Ju-jak (The Vermilion Bird / Asian Phoenix) guards the South and symbolizes fire, passion, and expansion.
The Baek-ho (White Tiger) protects the West and stands for strength, courage, and protection.
The Hyeon-mu (Black Tortoise) guards the North and represents endurance, wisdom, and longevity.
Together, they form a symbolic system that explains balance and harmony in nature and the universe.
