Key Focus: D istance, approach, t im ing, balance breaking, weight transfer , and throw ing.
Matdaegi Mechigi develops the abi l i ty to enter from a natural f ight ing distance and connect di rect ly into a throw .
In many throw ing systems, pract i t ioners begin after establ ishing a gr ip on the opponent . Matdaegi Mechigi begins from distance, w i thout a pre-establ ished gr ip. The pract i t ioner learns to approach the opponent , control the changing distance, break the opponentโs balance, and connect the movement natural ly into a throw .
The curr iculum is organized into 10 dist inct throw ing sequences. Each sequence teaches a di fferent method of closing the distance and creat ing the t im ing, posi t ion, and balance requi red for an effect ive throw .
Because the exchange begins from distance, pract i t ioners natural ly develop an understanding of Ganhap (้ๅ). They exper ience how kicking range changes into hand-technique range and then into throw ing range w i thin one cont inuous movement .
Through these 10 techniques, pract i t ioners develop the abi l i ty to recognize the r ight distance and moment to enter , control the opponentโs balance, and execute a throw as part of the cont inuous f low of Gongkwon Yusul .
