 The Stage of Preserving the Application (쓰임을 갖추는 단계)

[English] Jonyongbon (存用本), the seventh stage of the Samwonbon ser ies, develops the abi l i ty to br ing the pr inciples and techniques of Gongkwon Yusul into pract ical appl icat ion. The name Jonyongbon is der ived f rom the Hanja Jon (存), meaning “to exist , ” “to retain, ” or “to possess” ; Yong (用), meaning “to use, ” “to apply, ” or “pract ical funct ion” ; and Bon (本), meaning “foundat ion, ” “or igin, ” or “root . ”

Together , Jonyongbon represents “The Stage of Embodying Pract ical Appl icat ion. ”

Bui lding upon the integrated understanding developed through the previous stages, pract i t ioners now focus on ensur ing that the techniques they have learned possess genuine funct ion and purpose in real si tuat ions. Technique is ref ined not merely by i ts form , but by i ts abi l i ty to respond effect ively to changing distance, di rect ion, resistance, and ci rcumstance.

Through t raining that includes wr ist-cont rol techniques, joint locks, throws, defensive responses, ant i -grappl ing methods, and other pract ical appl icat ions, pract i t ioners learn to adapt the pr inciples of Gongkwon Yusul to a w ide range of si tuat ions.

At this stage, the value of technique l ies in i ts abi l i ty to be appl ied. Pr inciples, techniques, t i m ing, and st rategy come together as pract ical responses, al low ing the pract i t ioner to express Gongkwon Yusul natural ly and effect ively according to the demands of the moment .

[한국어] 삼원본의 일곱 번째 단계인 존용본(存用本)은 지금까지 익힌 공권유술의 원리와 기술이 실제 상황에서 쓰임을 갖도록 발전시키는 과정입니다. 존용본이라는 명칭은 ‘존재하다, 지니다, 간직하다’를 뜻하는 있을 존(存), ‘쓰다, 활용하다, 쓰임’을 뜻하는 쓸 용(用), 그리고 ‘근본, 기원, 뿌리’를 의미하는 본(本)에서 유래합니다.

이러한 의미를 종합하면 존용본은 “쓰임을 갖추는 단계”를 의미합니다.
